Comment on news: Saudi Arabia Denies Man Was Sentenced to Paralysis
If you believe justice is the idea that a person gets what he deserves it would seem that the perpetrator should be paralyzed as his victim was. However, the person who must look after him afterwards will be punished too which is unjust. Even if the person is paid those who provide the money are punished which is unjust. Then there is the matter of intent. By stabbing his victim the perpetrator probably did not have the specific intent of causing a paralyzing injury.
The judge made the right choice if the fine is enuff to pay a person to care for the victim thruout his life altho further punishment would be appropriate too.
